Gold Coast Surfing

There are so many reasons to visit Costa Rica and a very good reason to visit our northwest region is the surfing. With consistent waves and warm water it is a surfers mecca along our golden coast. I love Brasilito for so many reasons and one of them is being squeezed between beautiful Playa Conchal and Playa Flamingo while offering a more authentic Costa Rican experience in a more local setting. I also love Playa Brasilito for it's gentle slope into the sea and hard sands that make it easy to take a walk or play with the dogs. Playa Brasilito is most frequented by the locals and they know just when to go in the tide cycle to enjoy a few hours communing with the sea on their surf boards. If you want to surf with Costa Ricans then this is a good beach to visit.

We are located just 18 kilometers to a very reknowned surfing beach, Tamarindo. It has grown up from a sleepy village to a resort and tourist mecca bussling with people and traffic. If you love surfing and a beautiful beach, a good meal, and some shopping then a visit to Tamarindo is, of course, a must. But is it your kind of place to stay? For me it isn't. I don't like the crowds and the hustle of the local merchants. I must admit I do like to go spend a few hours there from time to time. Everyone who surfs and looks for places worldwide to visit know about Tamarindo.

A lesser known beach in the same bay is Playa Grande. This beach stretches over 3 miles and offers an opportunity for some great surfing in different locations for different experience levels. With a sandy bottom, multiple beach breaks, and fewer surfers Playa Grande most of the time can be a relaxed and peaceful surf experience. It also is bordered by and part of Las Baulas National Marine Park. This park was established to protect the leatherback turtles that come to this beach to lay their eggs. Additionally, there is the Marino las Balas National Park Mangrove Estuary in that area. This is a lovely area to visit. It offers very few amenities and even less shade on the beach so come prepared with your own shade and drinks.

These are great places to visit and spend time while staying with us on you next trip to Coast Rica's Gold Coast. www.DiversionTropical.com
